Last year I was searching high/low for a CB900F and found nothing, but got this CB900c for $450 and the guy threw in enough parts to almost build a second bike… a bit of a strange bike, 10 gears and all and by no means pretty to start with but someone challenged me to make my first two-seater.
My mods: rebuilt top-end, Keihin CR carb, swapped triple trees, from scratch wiring, made/designed the headlight and tail section, modified Suzuki tank, ditched the old Comstar rims, hand-threaded spokes and designed a system to run tubeless tires, Motogadget parts, gages and m-unit controller, RFID key built into the glove, hidden USB ports and a hand-sewn seat, custom paint.
Now that it’s done, I managed to pick up a CB900F and a VF700F for my next projects, that’s the way it goes.
The name? My son and I were debating what to call the bike and Billy Joel’s song was playing. Just fit.
